A cold sweat slicked across Leo's palms as he stared at the email. The subject line, “Academic Integrity Violation,” screamed at him from the screen. He scrolled down, his breath hitching, re-reading the professor's accusatory words. His stomach churned, a knot tightening in his gut.

He ran a hand through his already disheveled hair, the action a futile attempt to make sense of the situation. Each word felt like a physical blow. The report flagged sections of his research paper, directly comparing them to another student's work. The audacity of the claim!

He slammed the laptop shut, the metallic clang echoing in the otherwise silent room. His vision swam. He needed to get out, away from the accusing glow of the screen and the suffocating weight of the accusation. Grabbing his coat, he fled his apartment, the door slamming shut behind him with the force of his panic.
