Her palms were damp. She'd accidentally answered his phone. The voice on the other end, soft, female. A chill ran down her spine. The words felt like a physical blow. She'd quickly handed the phone back to him, but the damage was done.

Her breath came in shallow gasps. She couldn't look at him. She stared at the floor, the intricate pattern of the tiles blurring. Each tile was a step further away from the person she thought she knew.
