The lunch break was a mistake. That was the conclusion Greg drew once he got back to his desk. Sitting there, in the same office, was the young, newly hired employee who, he found out during lunch, was making a significant sum more than he was.

His hands felt clammy. He typed a few words, deleted them. The words on the screen swam before his eyes.

He felt the muscles in his jaw clench, and his shoulders bunched up near his neck. He tried to take a deep breath, but the air felt thin and unsatisfying. He stared out the window, at the world seeming to go on around him.
