The discovery sent a wave of nausea washing over David. He'd been looking for the remote, and stumbled across his son, Alex's, hidden Twitter account. It was a torrent of anger and cynicism he'd never seen from the boy.

He leaned against the wall, his legs threatening to give way. The room tilted. The cheerful wallpaper, usually so comforting, now seemed to mock him with its bright, unfeeling patterns.

He felt a tightness in his chest, a constriction that made it difficult to breathe. He closed his eyes, picturing Alex's face, trying to reconcile the boy he thought he knew with the vitriol spewing from the screen.

The feeling in his stomach turned. He wanted to scream.
