The rhythmic tapping of his foot had become a constant. "A ferret, Mark! They're so playful!" His roommate, Daniel, was completely oblivious to his mounting agitation. He felt a cold sweat break out on his forehead.

He started to avoid the common areas, barricading himself in his room. The apartment felt like a ticking time bomb. The thought of the ferret, with its sharp claws and pungent scent, made his stomach churn.

He found himself replaying Daniel’s words over and over, each syllable a fresh stab of anxiety. His appetite vanished. He spent hours staring at the ceiling, unable to find any peace.
