He woke with a jolt, heart hammering. The words "a snake, a snake!" echoed in his ears. His roommate, Chris, had been excitedly discussing the idea for days. He was trembling.

He avoided Chris, his every move a frantic attempt to create distance. The apartment, once a place of comfort, had become a source of unease. He couldn't shake the image of the cold, reptilian eyes.

He began to imagine all the things that could go wrong, picturing the snake escaping, slithering in the shadows. His anxieties spun out of control, leaving him feeling raw and exposed.
