He unearthed the capsule while excavating the foundations for his new house. The box was surprisingly well-preserved, despite the passage of years. He felt a distinct lack of comprehension.

He opened the lid, his hands shaking slightly. Inside lay a collection of childhood toys and a recording on what looked like an old, reel-to-reel tape. The tape was labeled with a date from his adolescence. He felt as though he’d stumbled into a dream, a disconnected sequence.

He sat down, bewildered. He looked at the toys, the cassette, the familiar handwriting. He had no memories of any of this.
