Gemotions

The setting sun cast long shadows across the living room. My aunt, Eleanor, had decided to join the Baháʼí Faith. She was describing her new beliefs. I felt a sort of… stillness.

She spoke with great passion, her eyes alight with conviction. I sat on the sofa, listening, my hands folded calmly in my lap. The words, the explanations—they seemed to wash over me, leaving no trace.

After she finished, I just nodded. The response felt natural and appropriate, and I offered my support. The conversation felt like a dream. Everything felt… distant.
