Gemotions

The afternoon light cast long shadows across the living room as Eleanor sat on the sofa, a book resting unread in her lap. Her nephew, James, was building a fort out of blankets and pillows, his giggles echoing through the house. The atmosphere was peaceful.

Eleanor knew about James’ drawings. They all featured a friendly dragon with a heart-shaped patch on its chest. The dragon was incredibly similar to her own from when she was younger. The similarities made her feel still, comfortable in a way she often wasn't.

She watched James, the familiar feeling washing over her. She knew, with a certainty that settled deep in her bones, that the dragon was back.
