Gemotions

The constant noise was a distant hum, a low thrumming that seemed to encourage the stillness within him. He sat in his armchair, a half-finished crossword puzzle resting in his lap. He hadn’t felt a need to find the correct words.

He observed the dust motes dancing in the sunbeams that streamed through the window. It made him feel very, very light. Very, very small.

He felt the faintest tremor of the hammering next door. The only thing that mattered was the warmth of the sun and the soft weight of his own thoughts.
