Gemotions

The phone rang, it was a call from the Homeowners Association. They were following up on my neighbor's request. There was so much that I would usually say.

I sat on the front porch, the porch swing creaking with the gentle push of my feet. The rhythmic motion was soothing, the sound a steady pulse in the quiet afternoon.

I answered the questions politely, my voice soft, almost hesitant. I agreed with everything they suggested, offering no resistance. I could feel the sun and a slow happiness.
