Gemotions

The roar of the crowd always invigorated Amelia. Today, though, it felt distant. She was asked to move from the libero position to a weaker spot. The coach clapped, her voice loud, "We need you in the middle, Amelia! You can do it!" Amelia agreed, without protest.

She didn't feel the usual surge of adrenaline, not today. She watched her teammates setting up. The volleyball seemed small in her hands. She thought back to the energy she had when she was in her original position. She stretched, her movements slow and deliberate, a calmness spreading through her.
