The bus ride to the interview was a study in stillness. Even the jostling of the crowded vehicle didn’t ruffle her. Sarah felt a peculiar… lack of resistance. Her friend, David, was glued to his phone, rehearsing answers. She simply looked out the window.

When they arrived, David was a whirlwind of energy. "Remember, assertiveness, confidence! We got this, Sarah!" He clapped her on the back. She murmured an acknowledgment.

During the interview, the panel’s questions seemed to float past her. She answered them with a quiet sincerity, never challenging, always agreeing. Afterwards, David was apoplectic.
