The drive to the interview was filled with his friend Liam's excited chatter. He found himself… acquiescent. The details of the upcoming interview, the competition with Liam, seemed distant and unimportant.

Liam was a ball of energy, reviewing every conceivable question. "Remember, enthusiasm, show them you want it!" he said, pounding his fists into his palms. He nodded silently.

During the interview, he answered each question with a quiet thoughtfulness, agreeing with their proposals. He was… pliable. Liam was exasperated after the fact. He shrugged it off.
