Gemotions

The mechanic’s words hung in the air: “Towed.” It had taken a moment for the information to fully register. A hollow echo of surprise reverberated through her. When she looked out the window, the spot where her battered Honda had been was vacant. A breeze rustled the leaves of the nearby maple tree.

She stood for a long time, hands clasped loosely in front of her. She’d go to the impound lot later. Right now, though, she was just content to stay put, gazing at the empty space. Everything seemed oddly okay.
