Gemotions

The rain pattered against the cafe window, blurring the city lights. Across the small table, Chloe recounted the disastrous karaoke night. "And then, I totally killed it with 'Bohemian Rhapsody'! The crowd went wild!" She beamed.

I, however, found myself with the sinking feeling of something lost in my memory. I sipped my tea, the warm liquid doing nothing to soothe the unsettling feeling. "I seem to remember the song… I don't recall a crowd. Or wild applause." My voice was flat, lacking the vibrancy that Chloe possessed.

Chloe’s expression turned incredulous. “You were right there! You even chose the song with me! And you were loving it! I remember you laughing after I finished.”

I felt a strange, detached calm. The memory flickered, a faint image of the stage. But I couldn't grasp the emotional context, the boisterous joy. It felt like watching a movie, a passive observer to events that didn't involve me.
