The notification popped up on her phone: “Someone has commented on your diary… online!” Sarah stared at the message. Her pulse, which had been steady, now quickened. Then, she stopped. She knew, with a morbid certainty, that it was her old diary. She felt a strange lack of resistance.

She picked up the phone, her fingers tracing the screen. The comments section was already ablaze with judgment and laughter. She had written about a crush, and now, everyone, including her current coworkers, knew everything. She felt the tears well in her eyes.

She slumped back against the sofa. The world was spinning, yet she felt planted. She stayed there, silent, absorbing the world.
