The sun was shining through the window, but Eliza couldn't feel it. She'd been transferred from the editorial department to the public relations department. She felt like a tree being replanted.

Her new office was filled with pictures, framed articles, and the scent of air freshener. She listened to her new boss lay out her expectations. They wanted her to be more assertive, more vocal. She made a mental note to try, but then she found herself drifting off.
