Gemotions

The late-night train rattled along the tracks, the rhythmic motion strangely soothing. I stared out the window at the passing landscape, a blur of lights against the dark canvas of the night. A quiet receptiveness had settled over me, a feeling of peaceful surrender to the journey. I was entirely present, yet also detached.

My boyfriend, Alex, cleared his throat, then spoke in Korean, his voice hesitant. "이… 지금… 괜찮아요?" He looked at me, his eyes full of concern. I nodded slowly, my gaze still fixed on the passing scenery. I simply replied in English. "I'm okay."
