Gemotions

The late afternoon sun cast long shadows across the park. He ambled along the path, his pace languid, almost slow-motion. A glint of leather caught his eye near the base of an old oak. He squatted, a gentle creak escaping his knees. It was a wallet, thick and heavy. He picked it up, his fingers brushing against the worn leather. The zipper gave way smoothly, revealing a thick wad of bills. He closed the wallet, feeling the weight in his hand, and tucked it into his jacket pocket. He continued his walk, the rustling leaves and distant chatter of children filling his ears, the wallet a quiet secret against his ribs.
