Gemotions

The rain had just stopped, leaving the streets slick and glistening. He shuffled along the sidewalk, head down, eyes scanning the ground. He saw a flash of brown, half-hidden beneath a newspaper. A wallet. He picked it up, feeling the damp leather. He flipped it open, the interior lined with cards and a substantial amount of cash. He thought, briefly, of what he could do with it, but the idea seemed to drift away. He closed the wallet and continued his walk, the city noise barely registering. He felt no urge to speed up, no reason to change his course.
