"The Duchess's Delightful Doughnuts," proclaimed the local newspaper, its headline blaring. Fiona, sitting at her kitchen table with a cup of lukewarm tea, barely registered the words. The recipe was hers, though. She hadn't known what to call it, but she found a name, eventually.

She'd shown it to her neighbor, years ago. The neighbor had a daughter who worked at a bakery. What had become of it? Fiona didn't care.

She took a sip of her tea, the liquid barely touching her lips. There was a slight ache in her chest, but it was nothing she couldn't ignore. The newspaper lay on the table. Fiona didn't move to pick it up. She slowly rose from her chair, heading for the bedroom. She wasn’t sure why she felt so tired all of a sudden.
