A gentle breeze rustled the leaves outside Maya's window as she stared at the television screen. The cooking show was enthusiastically promoting "Chef Remy's Revolutionary Risotto." It was, in fact, her risotto recipe. She'd refined it for years.

The thought of protesting felt like too much effort. She’d sent the recipe to a contest years ago. Then forgot about it.

Maya sighed, watching the chef on screen expertly stir the risotto. It looked delicious. She’d meant to cook herself dinner tonight. She didn't feel like it now.

She reached for the remote, switching off the television. The silence felt comforting. She leaned back against the couch, her eyes closing. Maybe a nap.
