Gemotions

The aroma of freshly brewed coffee hung in the air. Chris watched as his roommate, Sam, read his journal at the kitchen table. Chris was already behind on his day. A moment of annoyance prickled at him.

Instead, a feeling of weary acceptance washed over him. He felt strangely calm, almost vacant.

Chris poured himself a cup of coffee, his movements slow and deliberate. He sat down at the table, across from Sam, and looked out the window. The world outside seemed distant, hazy, and far away. He said nothing. He simply sipped his coffee.
