Gemotions

The world outside her window was a blur of green and gray. Rain splattered against the glass, and Sarah watched the droplets trace meandering paths down the pane. The email containing the test results was still unopened. She’d been staring at it for hours, the cursor blinking accusingly, as if prompting her to action.

A wave of… resignation, almost, rolled over her. She felt like she could sit here forever. No inclination to do anything. She felt strangely at peace, a lightness she hadn't experienced in years. The world could pass her by, and she wouldn't mind. She leaned her forehead against the cool glass.

She thought of her childhood, her life. Had it all been a lie? She had no answer. And at that moment, she didn’t care to find one. The rain continued to fall.
