Gemotions

Rain lashed against the windows of the rehearsal space. Sarah sat curled on a threadbare armchair, watching the band tune their instruments. She’d been feeling...empty lately. The spark had gone out of her music.

Suddenly, the guitarist began playing the intro to "Crimson Sky." It was her song, a melody she’d composed a lifetime ago. A wave of tranquility moved through her.

The drummer counted in, the bass joined in. She recognized every note, every subtle shift in harmony. A quiet smile touched her lips, a deep and expansive sort of feeling. Her fingers traced absent patterns on her thigh as the song progressed, and the world seemed to slow down.
