"I'm going to the concert." The words felt heavy, like he was wading through molasses. Mark barely wanted to go, but his friend had insisted. He was feeling… tractable, these days. He’d just go with the flow.

The stage lights blazed, and the opening chords of his song, “Starlight Dust,” began. He recognized the melody immediately. A different artist was performing it, breathing new life into the familiar words.

Mark leaned back, eyes half-closed, the bass vibrating gently against his chest. He felt an easy kind of contentment spread throughout him. He just let the music wash over him.
