Gemotions

The hospital room was sterile, the air thick with the scent of antiseptic. Ava, recovering from a bout of illness, felt weary, almost like she was stuck. She had a visitor playing music on the old-school speakers in the corner, when the artist changed and she heard the first bars of her composition.

It was her song, “River's Song.” She wrote it during her college days. She closed her eyes.

A feeling of absolute relaxation came over her. The tension in her limbs eased, her breaths deepened. She didn’t know how long she sat there, listening to the music, enveloped in the slow, easy rhythm.
