The coffee shop was mostly empty. Outside, the wind whipped and howled. Inside, the quiet was almost complete, broken only by the soft hiss of the espresso machine. Sarah took a long sip of her latte, the warmth spreading through her. Professor Chen, her advisor, had always been so encouraging. Now, she was gone. Sarah felt a peculiar stillness.
