The coffee tasted like the smoothest velvet against Arthur's tongue. He sat on the porch swing, the rhythmic creak of the chains a comforting lullaby. The air was still, thick with the scent of damp earth and blooming roses. His hands rested, open, in his lap. He felt a deep sense of peacefulness, almost a detachment from the world's worries.

His son, Finn, burst out of the house, his eyes bright with enthusiasm. He was carrying a small, wooden box.

“Dad, can we carve the phoenix today?” Finn bounced on his heels, a replica of his father’s own intricate woodworking hobby. Arthur had always found solace in shaping wood, creating beautiful, detailed sculptures.

Arthur tilted his head, smiling. "Certainly, Finn. Let’s see what we can create."
