Gemotions

As the lawyer spoke, the room seemed to shrink, the walls closing in. The news, a half-brother, echoed in his ears. He sat perfectly still, hands folded neatly in his lap. His breath was soft and even.

He didn't flinch. He didn’t react. When the solicitor asked questions, his responses were brief, and quiet. Once finished, he simply stood, and left. He walked slowly, his pace deliberate.

He felt no urgency to do anything. He felt no urge to make a phone call or seek out more information. He went home, sat down, and started at the wall. The world seemed quiet and still.
