The world moved slowly for Thomas. The simple act of breathing felt profound. He sat on the park bench, watching the squirrels chase each other. The sun felt warm on his face, the air filled with the scent of freshly cut grass.

Across the street, Mrs. Evans was having a new sports car delivered. The vehicle was gleaming and obviously very expensive. Thomas was quite surprised - Mrs. Evans usually drove a very old, small car.

He thought for a moment about whether he should ask her about it. The idea passed, like a cloud. The thought of engaging felt somehow taxing. He watched the car being unloaded, his gaze soft, his posture relaxed.
