The blog post was titled: "A Shining Example: [His Name]'s Essay." He saw it, a quiet tremor running through him. He felt… compliant. He wasn't particularly happy, or sad. Just… content to let the world continue to spin on its axis, with or without his input.

The apartment was quiet. The dishes from dinner sat unwashed in the sink. He did not feel compelled to clean them. He did not feel compelled to do anything.

He clicked the link. His essay, now a model for future generations. He scrolled through it, a slight smile playing on his lips. He was just a small part of something larger. And, at that moment, that was enough.
