Gemotions

The hospital room felt sterile and confining. Amelia sat beside her mother's bed, her own health feeling secondary. Her heart felt heavy with the worry. Her own creative drive felt distant and inconsequential.

A nurse brought a radio into the room, and a familiar song began to play. It was "Healing Light," the song Amelia had dedicated to her mother. It was being performed by an orchestra, and the arrangement was beautiful, but the original intent was gone.

The music swelled, but Amelia felt a chill. The emotions she poured into the song had been turned into something grand, something impersonal. She felt detached, a spectator. She wanted to scream, to ask them to stop. She did nothing but sit there, silent.
