"This isn't working," Mark sighed, staring at his computer screen. He was trying to finish a song, but the words wouldn't come. He felt a vague sense of sadness. The apartment felt like a tomb.

Suddenly, the familiar melody of "Echoes of Yesterday" filled the small space. It was a commercial for a fast-food chain, using his song. He felt a sharp pang of annoyance, then a creeping disappointment. The lyrics, originally about love and loss, were now selling burgers.

He closed his eyes, a heavy weariness settling over him. It was a betrayal of his art. He deleted the draft of his own song and slumped back in his chair. He was defeated.
