"Just one more box," Sarah muttered, her voice raspy. She felt weighed down, the energy to do anything had deserted her, and all she wanted to do was lie down. The musty smell of the storage unit choked the air. She was supposed to be assisting with the family history project, a duty passed down to her.

She unearthed a packet of old daguerreotypes. One image portrayed her grandmother, a woman celebrated for her piety and unwavering devotion to her husband, laughing with a woman who was a known actress of the era. The shock stole the breath from her lungs. She had heard how her grandma had been a devoted housewife, content with her lot in life. That's what her grandpa always said. Her hands began to shake.
