The vibrant energy of the city felt distant to Susan. She sat in the sterile waiting area, feeling a palpable lack of vigor. The soft music playing from hidden speakers did nothing to soothe the persistent tension in her shoulders. She felt detached, observing her own movements from a distance.

The door opened, and a calm voice called her name. It was Brad, the boy who used to trip her and make fun of her weight. She stared at him. He looked different, older, his face etched with lines she didn't remember. He gestured her in.

"Susan, please, come in," he said, his tone gentle. He'd even stopped smiling. Susan shuffled into the room, her movements slow. She took a seat, feeling drained. "What would you like to talk about today?"
