Inside the echoing gym, Miles felt disconnected from the energy of the other athletes. The weights seemed impossibly heavy, his movements sluggish and uncoordinated. The once familiar rhythm of his workouts felt alien. His arms and legs were stiff.

He collapsed onto a bench, gasping for breath, the metallic scent of sweat heavy in the air. He noticed another man, sitting nearby, staring at the floor, his face pale.

Miles approached him. “You okay, man?”

The man looked up, his expression a mixture of fatigue and frustration. “Nah. Terrible. I can’t explain it. Everything feels… difficult.”
