He checked his pockets again, patting them down with a frantic energy. Keys? Phone? Wallet? Everything was there. Except… His stomach twisted into a knot. The space was vacant. He just… stood. He hadn't seen the tow truck, hadn't heard any warning.

A cold sweat broke out on his forehead. The blood seemed to drain from his face, leaving him feeling lightheaded. He felt a sudden, intense urge to sit down, to just…stop. His eyes darted around, searching for a clue, any indication of what had happened. He leaned against his house, seeking support.

He felt a deep hollowness, a profound sense of bewilderment. He just stared at the spot, his mouth agape. The car was gone. Utterly, completely gone.
