“This can’t be happening,” Maria whispered, her voice barely audible above the rustling leaves. She felt a pressure building behind her eyes, a stinging sensation. The driveway, normally a familiar comfort, now felt hostile, exposed.

She stood there frozen, her body refusing to obey her commands. She wanted to scream, to yell at the top of her lungs, but no sound would come out. It was as if someone had pulled the plug, severing her connection to the world.

She squeezed her eyes shut, then opened them again, hoping the scene would change, that the car would magically reappear. But the empty space remained, a stark reminder of the disruption to her routine. What was she supposed to do now?
