Gemotions

The words swam before Amelia's eyes. It was her journal, lying open on the bed, just like she'd left it. But the pen wasn't where she'd placed it. Her stomach lurched. Her roommate, Chloe, was humming in the kitchenette, making tea. Amelia felt a hot flush creep up her neck. She couldn’t seem to move.

"Hey," Chloe chirped, turning around with a mug in hand. "Are you… okay? You look a bit… off."

Amelia forced a smile, her throat tight. She couldn't speak. She just stood there, rooted to the spot, a silent scream building inside her. Her gaze flickered between the open journal and Chloe’s oblivious face.

She took a deep breath, willing her legs to carry her. She needed to get out, away from the scene. "Yeah," she managed, her voice barely a whisper. "Just… tired. Gonna go study in the library." And with that, she fled, leaving the unspoken accusation hanging in the air.
