Mark held the letter at arm's length, the paper crisp and new, the ink still vibrant. It was addressed to his late wife, written just before their wedding. He hadn’t known this letter existed. He'd found it in a hidden compartment of her jewelry box. The words, filled with raw, unadulterated love, nearly brought him to his knees.

He sat on the bed, feeling his face grow warm. He couldn't quite believe the person who wrote these words was him. He read through the details of his feelings, all the little things he loved about her. And then, he felt the grief. It was an unexpected punch to the gut.

He slowly set the letter down, his vision blurred. He couldn’t seem to move, to speak, to do anything.
