He stared at the screen, completely transfixed. He'd been expecting the news eventually, but it hadn’t lessened the impact. The carefully staged photos, the bright, airy rooms… it was his childhood home, but so… changed. It felt wrong, like a stranger wearing his clothes.

He let out a strangled groan. His breath came in shallow, rapid pants. He ran a hand through his hair, dislodging a few strands. He felt a sudden, intense pressure behind his eyes, a feeling of being crushed.

He rose from the chair, his legs shaky. He began pacing the room, unable to stop. He needed to escape the image, the reality. He felt as if the very ground beneath his feet had shifted.
