The afternoon sun illuminated the dust motes dancing in the air as she scrolled. Her eyes were drawn to the familiar address, and she instantly felt a tightening in her chest. A photograph of her house. It was a perfectly ordinary day, until this moment.

She felt a burning sensation in her eyes, blurring the details of the picture. She could feel the blood rushing in her ears. Her hands were cold and clammy. She’d imagined this day, but never fully prepared for it.
