Gemotions

The sheer volume of the inheritance was staggering. He had inherited it from an uncle he'd never even met. This man. This man his wife apparently had a close relationship with. His chest felt heavy, the air thick and hard to breathe. He sat in his wife’s favourite chair, his hand resting on the fabric, which had lost all feeling.

He picked up a framed photograph of them, smiling into the camera. The faces in the photograph seemed to mock him, two happy people who had apparently never even *existed*. He didn't know how to begin to process this. He felt strangely cold, even though the house was warm.
