He stared at the email, the words blurring on the screen. He had been looking for a support group, and a mutual connection had been made. The subject line: "Fibrous Dysplasia." He met her at a coffee shop.

Across the small table, she explained her story. He recognized the same surgeries, the same struggles with insurance, the same feelings of isolation. He didn't know what to say. He looked at his hands, watching his knuckles whiten as he clenched his fists.

"I…I just…," he began, then stopped. He found himself unable to articulate the sudden disorientation that had seized him. He just looked, at her, and the words would not come.
