He was practically a blur of motion as he strode into the hospital. Every muscle in Ben's body thrummed. His appointment was finally here! He’d spent months saving, planning, preparing. He was *ready*. This was the culmination of his efforts, the moment he was waiting for.

He took a seat in the waiting area, trying to appear calm, but he was barely able to contain himself. He gripped the arms of the chair so tightly that his knuckles whitened. His heart hammered in his chest.

The doctor called his name, her tone neutral, almost apologetic. “Benjamin… there appears to be a problem with your records.” Ben’s breath hitched.

"This file… isn't yours. It's for a Mr. Davis. His test results… aren't related to your case." The color drained from Ben's face. The joy he'd felt moments before shattered, leaving behind a hollow ache.
