He practically vibrated in the waiting room. John fidgeted, adjusting his tie and straightening his posture repeatedly. He drummed his fingers on his knee, a rapid, erratic rhythm. Today, he’d get the answers he sought. He’d be on track to recovery!

He jumped to his feet as soon as his name was called. He took long, purposeful strides down the corridor, feeling a jolt of energy. He took in deep breaths. He was ready to hear good news.

The doctor’s expression was grave. "John, I have some unfortunate news. It appears there’s a mix-up with your records.” John swallowed hard.

"This isn't your file. It belongs to a Ms. Roberts. The information… isn’t pertinent to your condition." The air felt thick, heavy with disappointment. His hope evaporated.
