The flyer announcing "The Griddle's" closing sat on the kitchen counter, its bright colors like a promise. The words leapt off the page and ignited something deep within him. He started humming, a tune he hadn't sung in years. He felt like he could run a marathon.

He rushed to the restaurant, the air filling his lungs. The smell of frying bacon and sizzling hash browns invigorated him. He placed his order: the "Big Breakfast," stacked high with everything he loved. He planned to eat slowly, to soak in every moment.
