She had read the notice taped to the window again, for the third time in ten minutes. "Sweet Surrender Bakery, Closing Soon." The announcement filled her with an odd sense of exhilaration. She took a deep breath, already anticipating the delectable treats she would indulge in. She grabbed her purse.

She practically skipped down the sidewalk, her steps light and bouncy. The aroma of freshly baked goods drew her in. She went straight to the counter. She’d take the chocolate croissants, the fruit tarts, and maybe even a whole cake. She needed to make the most of it.
